Our organised trips

colditzguestsweb

These days anyone can pretty much travel anywhere on their own – but what happens when you get there? How do you make the most of your visit and really get under the surface of the story? There is only one way to do this with Colditz and that is to come with us. We have developed relationships with locals for nearly 20 years and they know and trust in us and believe in what we are doing.  This has uncovered a mine of local information from first hand witnesses as well as enabling us to develop a Colditz WW2 photographic collection that is unrivalled anywhere in the world. It is true to say that we have far more than the castle authorities themselves!

Why us? We are Colditz Historians. We have spent many years not just researching primary source POW and German information but we have actively been working around the castle for nearly 20 years to explore and uncover all the castle’s WW2 secrets. We know how they lived day to day, we know their tricks to wind up the guards, we know the very routes they used on their escapes. Put simply we know how to bring Colditz to life and have decades of guiding experience with guests to facilitate this experience.

For nearly 20 years now we have been running an organised trip to Colditz at least twice a year which have been opened up to the pubic. This enables guests to really make the most of their time in Germany is the most cost efficient way.

The cost of the tour covers the guide fee and also transport/entrances/accommodation and breakfast.

We meet guests 0900 at Berlin’s Hauptbahnhof central train station and travel down to Leipzig by high speed train, then local train to a nsarby town then the final leg by pre booked tax. We stay in the town for 2 nights before returning to Berlin in the same manner.

We believe it is important to stay, eat and drink locally. Whether it is a coffee break in the morning, a spot of lunch or a lovely dinner at an old Wehrmacht Officer watering hole we know – it all helps  support the local economy – and that is important as we protect this historic asset and continue sharing the Colditz Story for generations to come.

We would be delighted if you joined us on one of our trips.
